WA building regulator: Building and Energy (DEMIRS)

    Last updated 6 Jun 2026

Building and Energy (part of WA's DEMIRS) regulates building, plumbing and electrical services in Western Australia, including registration under the Building Services (Registration) Act 2011 and the Home Building Contracts Act. Building disputes can go to the Building Commissioner and the State Administrative Tribunal (SAT).

Check registration or get information: call 1300 489 099 or use the Building and Energy website.

Building approval is granted by a permit authority (usually your local government) against the National Construction Code.
