SiteKiln — Your rights on site. In plain English.
    SiteKiln

    Privacy Policy

    Last updated: May 2026

    In plain English first

We don't collect personal data. We don't ask for your email. We don't run accounts, logins, newsletters or sign-up forms. There is no "subscribe" anywhere on this site. You can use every tool, read every guide, and browse the entire site without giving us any information about yourself.

This policy explains what we do and don't do, and how we comply with the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs) under the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth).

For the receipts behind every claim on this page, see our Privacy proof page.

    1. Who we are

SiteKiln is published by Kiln Guides Ltd. We are the entity responsible for handling any personal information collected through this site.

    2. What data we collect

If you just read the site (no account)

We do not collect personal data.

    • We do not ask for your name, email, address, phone number, or any other personal information.
    • We do not run sign-up forms, login systems, user accounts or newsletters.
    • We do not use third-party tracking pixels, Facebook Pixel, Google Ads remarketing, or any programmatic ad network that follows you around the internet.

We do use basic, privacy-friendly analytics (Plausible) to understand which pages are popular and how people use the site. This is aggregated, cookieless and anonymous — we cannot identify individual visitors. See our Cookie Policy for details.

    If you contact us

    • Whatever you send us — name, email, message content — so we can reply. We delete these messages after 12 months unless there's an ongoing conversation.

If you're an advertiser or sponsor

    • Business contact details provided during your enquiry, used to manage the sponsorship relationship.

    3. Browser storage (localStorage)

Some of our tools save your entries in your browser's localStorage so they're still there when you come back. This includes calculators, planners and saved guides.

    What you need to know:

    • Your data is saved in your browser only. It is never sent to our servers.
    • We cannot see, access or recover this data.
    • Clearing your browser history, cache or site data will delete it.
    • The data is not encrypted and is not backed up.
    • If you switch to a different device or browser, your saved data will not follow you.

    4. Cookies

We use cookies on this site. Full details are in our Cookie Policy.

    Short version:

    • Essential only — needed to make the site work. Always on.
    • No advertising cookies, no retargeting, no social media tracking pixels, no cross-site tracking.

    5. Advertising — how it works on SiteKiln

Any sponsor placements you see on this site are not targeted based on your browsing history. We don't track what you do on other websites and use it to follow you around with ads.

Our sponsorship is contextual and industry-specific:

    • Placements are relevant to the section you're reading, not to your personal browsing data.
    • If you're reading about insurance, you might see a sponsor logo from an insurer. If you're reading about training, you might see an RTO. That's it.

    We do not:

    • Use programmatic ad networks (Google Ads, Meta Ads, etc.).
    • Build advertising profiles based on your behaviour.
    • Share any of your data with sponsors.
    • Let sponsors influence the content of our guides.

Sponsors pay for placement on the site. They do not pay for access to your data. Editorial and advertising are kept completely separate.

    6. How long we keep your data

    DataHow long
Analytics dataAggregated and anonymised; raw data deleted after 26 months
Contact form messagesDeleted after 12 months unless there's an ongoing conversation
Sponsor/enquirer detailsFor the duration of the relationship plus 7 years (for ATO record-keeping obligations)

When we delete data, we delete it properly — not just archived somewhere you can't see.

    7. Your rights under the Australian Privacy Principles

Under the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles, you have the right to:

    • Access — ask us what personal information we hold about you (APP 12).
    • Correction — ask us to correct anything that's wrong (APP 13).
    • Complain — if you think we've mishandled your information, contact us first. If you're not satisfied, you can lodge a complaint with the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC) at oaic.gov.au.

To exercise any of these rights, email hello@kilnguides.co.uk. We'll respond within a reasonable period (and in any case within 30 days).

    8. How we keep data safe

    • All data is stored on secure, encrypted servers.
    • Access is limited to the people who actually need it (which is very few).
    • We review our data practices regularly and delete anything we no longer need.

    9. Overseas disclosure

Where we use overseas service providers (e.g. hosting, email), your information may be processed outside Australia. We only use providers with comparable privacy standards.

    10. Children

SiteKiln is aimed at adults working in the construction industry. We do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 16.

    11. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. The "last updated" date at the top will change when we do. Significant changes will be flagged on the site.

    12. Contact

For any privacy questions, email hello@kilnguides.co.uk.
