Tasmania building regulator: Consumer, Building and Occupational Services

    Last updated 6 Jun 2026

Consumer, Building and Occupational Services (CBOS) accredits building practitioners in Tasmania under the Building Act 2016 (Tas), regulates the industry, and helps resolve building disputes.

Check accreditation, lodge a complaint, or get advice: call 1300 654 499 or use the CBOS website.

Building work is categorised by risk; higher-risk work needs a permit and a building surveyor's approval against the National Construction Code.
