WorkSafe Victoria: contact, what they enforce, and how to report

    Last updated 6 Jun 2026

WorkSafe Victoria is the workplace health and safety regulator for Victoria. Unlike the other states, Victoria has its own Occupational Health and Safety Act 2004 (Vic) rather than the model WHS laws — so you'll see "OHS" rather than "WHS" here, though the duties are broadly similar.

Advice or to report a concern: call 1800 136 089.

Notifiable incident — report immediately: a death, serious injury or illness, or a dangerous occurrence must be reported to WorkSafe straight away and the scene preserved. Check the WorkSafe Victoria website for the 24-hour notification line and online form.

WorkSafe Victoria also runs inspections, issues improvement and prohibition notices, and is the workers compensation authority for the state.
