    The first minutes matter most. The DRSABCD action plan and the CPR numbers, in the order you do them — for the moment you hope never comes.

    DRSABCD — the action plan

    D — DangerCheck the area is safe — for you, bystanders, then the casualty
    R — ResponseSqueeze shoulders, ask their name: 'can you hear me?'
    S — Send for helpCall 000 (112 from any mobile). Send someone for the defib.
    A — AirwayOpen and clear the airway — tilt head, lift chin
    B — BreathingLook, listen, feel — is breathing normal?
    C — CPRNot breathing normally? 30 compressions to 2 breaths
    D — DefibrillationAttach an AED as soon as it arrives; follow the voice prompts

    Not trained / won't give breaths?Compression-only CPR — and don't stop until help takes over
