GHS Hazard Pictograms

The red diamond symbols on every drum, tin and bag on site. What each GHS pictogram is warning you about — in plain English, not the chemical definition.
The nine GHS pictograms (black symbol, red diamond)
| Flame | Flammable — catches fire easily |
| Flame over circle | Oxidiser — feeds a fire and makes it fiercer |
| Exploding bomb | Explosive — can detonate |
| Gas cylinder | Gas under pressure — can explode if heated |
| Corrosion | Corrosive — burns skin, eyes and metal |
| Skull & crossbones | Acute toxicity — can poison or kill quickly |
| Exclamation mark | Harmful / irritant — skin, eyes, airways |
| Health hazard | Serious longer-term effects — carcinogen, organ damage, respiratory sensitiser |
| Environment | Toxic to aquatic life and the environment |

- Australia uses GHS Revision 7 — only GHS 7 labels are valid since 1 January 2023
