    Workers' compensationCompulsory if you employ — the scheme is state-based

    Ask before you sign

    • Is defective workmanship excluded? Asbestos? Pollution?
    • Unattended-vehicle rules — covered if tools are in a locked van overnight?
    • New-for-old or market value on tools and the ute?
    • Are subcontractors covered, and do they need their own cover?
