    Plasterboard Types (Australia)

One core looks like another until it is the wrong one in a wet area or a fire wall. The Australian plasterboard types, what they are for, and the thicknesses.

    Types (AS/NZS 2588)

Standard General walls and ceilings — not fire/acoustic/wet rated
Water-resistant (wet area) Bathrooms, laundries — e.g. Aquachek
    Fire-rated Glass-fibre-reinforced core for fire-rated systems — e.g. Fyrchek
    Fire + moisture Fire-rated wet-area board — e.g. Fyrchek MR
Acoustic Denser board for bedrooms, media rooms and party walls

    Thickness

10 mm Standard for most interior walls
13 mm Ceilings and high-performance areas — resists sag
Reference only. Fire and acoustic ratings come from the tested system — board plus framing plus fixings — not the board alone. Follow the manufacturer's system spec and the NCC.
