Work out the annual leave you're actually owed.

For site workers and casuals whose boss 'doesn't really do leave' or rolls it into the rate. Sorts out NES leave, leave loading and the casual-loading trade-off.

    Sound familiar?

    • “Your boss reckons leave is 'built into your rate' — but you've never seen it on a payslip.”
    • “You're a casual and not sure if the 25% loading is actually being paid.”
    • “You're owed leave from a job you've left and don't know how to value it.”

    What this tool does

Works out your annual leave entitlement under the National Employment Standards based on your working pattern, estimates the leave pay and 17.5% loading, and explains the 25% casual loading that replaces leave for casuals.

    What the law actually says

    • Permanent employees get 4 weeks paid annual leave a year under the NES (5 weeks for some shift workers), accruing as they work. Many awards add 17.5% leave loading when leave is taken.
    • Casuals don't accrue paid annual leave — they get a 25% casual loading on every hour instead. That loading has to be identifiable, not vaguely 'included'.
    • Guidance only, not legal advice.
